A Butcher's Encounter with Wolves

One evening， a butcher was returning home， having exhausted all the meat in his basket， leaving only the bones. On his way， he encountered two wolves that followed him from afar. The butcher was frightened and threw a bone to them. One wolf stopped to eat the bone， while the other continued to follow. He threw another bone， but this time， the first wolf stopped while the second one approached. All the bones were gone， yet the two wolves continued to chase him relentlessly. The butcher was in great distress， fearing he would be attacked from both sides. Looking around， he noticed a wheat field where the owner had piled up straw to form a mound. The butcher hurried over and leaned against it， putting down his basket and holding his knife. The wolves did not dare to approach， staring at him fiercely. After a short while， one wolf left directly， while the other sat down in front of him. After some time， the sitting wolf seemed to close its eyes， looking very relaxed. Suddenly， the butcher leaped up and slashed the wolf's head with his knife， killing it with several more blows. Just as he was about to leave， he turned around and saw that there was a hole dug into the pile of straw behind him. It appeared the wolf intended to tunnel through and attack him from behind.
